"Community service is helping people, but also gaining an understanding about each other and a sense of human compassion."
Cowtown Great American Cleanup
SOL Ballet Folklórico members are among the many volunteers every year that participate in the Cowtown Great American Cleanup across the City of Fort Worth. We have cleaned the North Side Park and Trinity Park, among others. Although the temperature is always in the low 30’s, our members are troopers and complete the mission without any complaints year after year.
SOL Ballet Folklórico members perform for local nursing homes during the holiday season and spread the Christmas Joy. Members create personalized Christmas cards and do some arts and crafts with the senior citizen residents. The faces in the citizens full of joy and happiness were priceless.
During the month of November, SOL Ballet Folklórico coordinates a food drive "Operation End Hunger" for local charities in our city to help the people in need. We gather food by going door-to-door in our neighborhoods, collecting food from friends, and encouraging others to spread the word, too. To date we have collected more than 4,000 lbs of food.
If you thought SOL Ballet Folklórico dancers provided enough smiles here in North Texas with their performances, every December, imagine the joy they give many young children at Fort Worth Cook's Childrens Hospital. Our dancers are always super excited to spread the holiday spirit to many children.
